It is my intention to bring more awareness about rape. I want people to start talking about rape, rape to be a topic at school, just as the students are taught about HIV / AIDS I do not see how we can leave rape conversations aside.

Rape is regarded as a taboo topic everywhere in the country, especially in the rural areas. The social and psychological impact of the rape victim and their family is excruciating. It is my hope that this book and my endeavor on advocacy and all the initiatives that all the stakeholders in this field have in place will result to a society where a person who has been raped will be regarded as a victim. The rape victim will be able to talk about their pain and anger in an environment that is safe for them to do so without the voices of judgement being louder than the voices of hope and comfort.

It is my hope that the efforts to address rape in Tanzania by all the stakeholders who work tirelessly on eradicating rape, will result to a more united society. A society that involves men, women, old people and children in the rape discussions.

My ultimate goal is to see a society with safe spaces to talk about rape, that allows the rape victims a safe space to heal and eventually a society that is free from rape.
